Additionally, because the board recognizes the importance of professional development of our staff, we close on the first Friday in March and the first Friday in June. Professional development days allow our educators to enhance their skills and continue to provide a quality program. Parents will receive a reminder email prior to upcoming professional development days.
Daycare fees still apply for all professional development day closures. This practice has been approved by the Government of Manitoba Early Learning and Child Care office.
Children attending Ecole Lorette Immersion (ELI) or Dawson Trail School (DTS) are escorted on foot to and from school by staff.
Parents/Guardians must provide at least two snacks and lunch each day in a labelled lunch kit. All food must be nut-free. During the warmer months, we may ask that families pack lunches that do not require heating, as we may be going on field trips, picnics, etc.
Occasionally throughout the year, we offer a hot -lunch program if you wish to purchase hot lunches.
The wait time varies from location to location and program to program. There is no average wait time, however it's not uncommon for families to remain on our waitlist for quite some time.
Due to the growing demand for spaces, it's possible that your child may not be offered a spot before they age out of care. We strongly recommend that you register with other centres as well. Consider all of the childcare facilities in your neighbourhood, specifically focusing on those within your intended school catchment area.
The Board of Directors is elected at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) once per year by the membership. All parents are members of Tache Early Learning Centre Inc. As a member, you are expected to attend the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Parents are encouraged to run for positions on the Board of Directors and to participate on committees when required. The Board meets monthly, or as needed to discuss issues related to the operation of the centre. The Board may choose not to meet over the summer months.
Please email the Director if you are interested in joining the board.
As a government funded centre, our fees are regulated by the Province of Manitoba, which results in a limited revenue stream, so fundraising is a very important aspect of our centre. All parents/foster parents/guardians are expected to participate in fundraising activities. Throughout the year, we host various events and projects to raise funds for new equipment, special activities, supplies etc. All funds raised go towards enhancing your child’s program.
We make every effort to remain open and operating as per our schedule. However, there may be emergency situations where this is not possible. All regular closures will be communicated via email or text.
In the event that a storm develops during the day, the centre closure will be consistent with the Seine River School Division. Parents will be expected to pick up their children immediately following school closure announcements. The educators will also attempt to call parents to notify them that they are required to pick up their child immediately.
In the event that the Seine River School Division is closed due to unsafe highway conditions or extreme weather conditions, the centre will also remain closed.
Please check the Seine River School Division website between 6:00am-6:30 am to view any closures. Parents can also call the centre after 06:30am and listen to our answering machine for any closures.
● If the Seine River School Division website states that the schools are closed or classes are cancelled and staff is not reporting to work, then Tache Early Learning Centre will remain closed.
● If the Seine River School Division website states that classes are cancelled and staff is to report to work, then Site 1, Site 2 and Kinder will be open. However, our School-age location will be closed between 8:45am - 3:00pm due to the short notice and not having enough available educators on site to provide adequate care.
Because the Ecole Lorette Immersion (ELI) is our emergency evacuation site, the centre can only open when there is staff at the school so that we can enter if and when an emergency situation arises. If the school is closed due to poor weather conditions or poor highway conditions and teachers are not to report to school, we must close for this reason.
Parents will be expected to pay regular fees for the day(s). In the event of a Health crisis or epidemic we will follow the instructions issued by the Regional Health Authority.
Because we are a government-funded centre, our fees are set by the Manitoba Early Learning and Childcare Guidelines and billing cycles. Fees are subject to change as recommended by the Government of Manitoba Early Learning and Child Care Office, Department of Education and Early Childhood Learning.
Parents will be given one billing period notice prior to a fee change.
Fees are charged on a monthly basis.

The Circle of Security is a visual map of attachment. It is used to help caregivers better understand and meet children's attachment needs. It depicts the interplay between a child's need for exploration (going out) and their need for comfort and safety (coming in), with the caregiver acting as both a Secure Base and a Safe Haven.
